LIRC Emerging Lighting Designer Initiative

Supporting the Professional Development of Future Leaders in Lighting Design.

The Emerging Lighting Designer Initiative creates continuing education opportunities for up-and-coming lighting designers within the first seven years of their careers. Manufacturer support of one or more designers covers their conference registration (valued at $1500 USD) for IALD Enlighten Americas, and provides a $400 USD travel stipend.

For over a decade, the LIRC has facilitated this tremendous program, sending more than 400 up-and-coming architectural lighting designers from twenty countries to IALD Enlighten Conferences worldwide.

The Benefit to Designers

As an emerging architectural lighting design professional, you'll receive financial support to experience educational and networking opportunities at an IALD Enlighten conference. The LIRC developed this initiative to support IALD members in their first seven (7) years of professional practice**.

Don't miss this chance to develop your knowledge and skills while mingling with top lighting designers from around the world — apply to the Emerging Program and you could be joining us at the next IALD Enlighten Americas conference!

Each sponsored designer will receive:

  • One full-event conference registration to IALD Enlighten Americas.
  • A $400 USD travel stipend to offset travel expenses.
  • One ticket to the LIRC Emerging Lighting Design Professionals networking reception at the conference.
  • Recognition at the conference as an Emerging Lighting Design Professional.
  • Applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and participants are encouraged to apply early, as program funds are limited.

** Eligibility is based on active (or pending) status as an IALD Member or Design Member.
